panoramic photos, a definition

A short definition on the type of images that can be classified as panoramic images.

A panorama (from greek-latin “panorama” = all-view, an unobstructed view of everything surrounding the observer) is a picture that is at least twice (some say three-times) as wide as its height. It can be painted, photographed, created on a computer, … For me, it is an image that shows more than a single view of an event or location and where the observers eye cannot capture the picture in its whole in one view, the image has to be recreated in the mind of the observer.
The maximum size of a panorama is a full sphere, which covers 360 x 180 degrees. To be viewed as a panorama, it has to be viewed from the inside.
My knols on panoramic photography will focus mainly on 360 degree panoramas, created with photo- or digital cameras, and photography of the same.
