Omnipotence feelings are not good feelings, because it's not easy to be a god ;-). There is a better feeling as omnipotence.
Erikson is speaking about "basic sence of trust". If we have this basic sence of trust we didn't need any omnipotence feelings. But in the society and in the history of our ancestors is a lot of traumatically violence which is destroying this trust.
It is a well known phenomenon that people with posttraumatic stress disorder are searching for strong groups or people to participate from their power. I'm calling this power virtù, because the tortured Machiavelli dedicated his book about virtù "Il Principe" to the Medici.
Machiavelli was tortured by the Medici, his trust was destroyed and he want to rebuild this trust. He wants to associate his self with the omnipotence of the powerful Medici and their virtù.

You put it very beautifully. Omnipotence feelings are not good feelings indeed I have quantified them as -2 feelings. But these are a reality that play a significant role in most lives. Mankind indulges in 'omnipotence transference' as in 'I am not the center of the universe but my group, my beliefs or my cause is'.

Ich möchte mich an der Diskussion nicht beteiligen. Ich habe allerdings eine Richtigstellung geschrieben.

Sie wissen, dass ich jeden Artikel weiterverlinke, egal ob er von der CDU oder von der LINKEN kommt. Ich werde allerdings keine Artikel mit rassistischen Inhalten weiterverlinken.

Sie wissen, dass ich gar nicht die Macht habe, Doktortitel abzuerkennen. Darum ging es in meinem Blogbeitrag auch nicht. Es ging um die Frage der Reputabilität. Umgekehrt jedoch scheint Weiss meine Promotion verhindern zu wollen und so etwas ist viel einfacher als eine Aberkennung.

Sie kritisieren die Adminwillkür in Wikipedia. Hierzu möchte ich anmerken, dass ich mich bei den meisten Admins in Wikipedia sehr unbeliebt machte, weil ich forderte, dass Admins nicht auf Lebenszeit gewählt werden dürfen. Das erinnert mich an die Doktor-Diskussion.

Übrigens wurde ich auch schon von Achim Raschka gesperrt. Dennoch respektieren wir uns. So einen Respekt muss man sich verdienen. Und das ist eben das Problem an Doktor-Titeln. Eigentlich sagt ein Doktor-Grad nur aus, dass der Inhaber sich in einem kleinen abgegrenzten Gebiet gut auskennt. Tatsächlich steht er aber auch für Reputabilität. So kann oftmals ein Doktorgrad aberkannt werden, wenn der Doktor straffällig geworden ist. Umgekehrt kann eine Strafe für Doktoren höher ausfallen, weil Doktoren eine Vorbild-Funktion haben. In meinen Augen ist das alles unsinnig. Würde sich ein Doktor-Grad nur auf die wissenschaftlich erbrachte Leistung beziehen, hätte ich damit weniger Probleme.
