There are two ways to find translators for your Knols, the direct and the indirect way.

So the way is: you translate Knols in your language and other Knol-Authors translate your Knol in their language! There are two ways to find translators for your Knols, the direct and the indirect way.
The Direct Way: Translation-Partnerships
If you use the direct way, it's a direct tit-for-tat: If you translate a Knol for me I will translate a Knol for you. It's only difficult to find a partner for this job.The Indirect Way: Knol Translation Exchange System
But it's also possible to use an indirect way: Jim translated a Knol for Heike, Heike translated a Knol for Sajid and Sajid translated a Knol for Jim. In this case they need an exchange system. I call it the Knol Translation System. But first you can search for translation-partnerships for direct translations.
1. Translation-Partnerships
Here you can tell other Knol-Authors which languages you speak on a native level and which translations you need. If you need translations, put your name with a link, where Knol-Authors can make contact with you, into the table. You translate a Knol for her / him, he / she translates a Knol for you. An easy system.| Name | Need translation for Knols in the language ... | Can translate Knols on a native-speaker level from... into... |
| Andreas Kemper | German | English -> German Dutch -> German |
| Patrice Bouyrat | French | English -> French |
2. The Knol-Translation-Points-System
![]() |
You want to see your Knol in another language? Help Knol-Users to publish their Knols in your language and get for each character of the translated Knol one Credit-Point. The Knol Translation Points System is a virtual exchange trading system. It's a system by the Knol-Author-Community and it's not an official Google-Knol-system.
John wants to publish one of his Knols in Spanish. He don't speak Spanish and his German isn't very good, but he can understand German and he is able to translate German Knols in his native language. His article has 28.000 characters. One of the two German Knol-articles has 31.000 characters. So he translates this German article into the English language and gets 31.000 Knol-Translation-Points from Claudia. She has now only 20.000 Knol-Translation-Points - maybe enough for her second Knol.
Now John can ask for a translation. And Maria from Mexico-City does this job and gets 28.000 Knol-Translation-Points. John has now one Knol more and he has 3.000 Knol-Translation-Points.
(In addition to this you can also receive Knol Translation Points for solving HTML-problems.)
The accounts for Knol Translation Points you will find here: Knol Translation Points.

Please type your name, your Knol-Translation-Points (the first 20 (No.1, No.2, No.3 ... Limits of Science translation
Sorry, it was only a test. As I saw the new tool I tried it. It did a machine translation from your Knol, but I didn't make a manual proofreading and I didn't publish it. It was only a test. I didn't suppose that there will be a translation-remark in the origin Knol. And I think this remark should only appear, if the translated Knol is published.
Best
Andreas

If you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer and are having problems
writing your Knol, it is not the Knol site, it is "Internet Explorer"
that is causing the problems...
Download Google's "Chrome" and use it to work on your Knol... It works
seamlessly with the Knol page... All the buttons and commands work
flawlessly... It even has "spell check" and a few other new
features... ("page" and "tools" are changed into small unlabeled icons
that have been moved to the upper right hand corner of the screen, so
they are easy to miss at first)... "Chrome" is stable and reliable,
and has not given me any problems at all... With "Chrome" everything
stays where you put it, and how you put it, and it doesn't "freeze up"
or give you an "error message" then dump you off the web..
Andreas

Hello Philippe A. Raymond
http://knol.google.c
You can copy it now. The translation is okay, but I have to fix two problems: html (I used first Google-Translation and now the html is horrible - maybe you can copy it first in word and then in knol) and the reference. There is a problem now with the reference, maybe a bug.
Best wishes and have good holydays
Andreas

Hi Andreas
-When you translate an article, is it you or the asker who publish this article?
-If it's the asker, what do you earn to do this?
-... How can I become a translator ?!
Suggestion: Have reviewer (not the review at the right of the knol, but someone who can verified articles, some who are very very good)
Thanks
It's the asker who is the publisher, not the translator. If you want to translate a knol, you have to ask the knol-author at his knol-comment. Then the knol-author opens a new knol ("Write a knol"), where he is the owner and the author. He copies his origin knol in his new knol. This new knol is in the Open Directory-modus and the translator is only a contributor. But he gets for each translated character of the knol one knol-translation-poi
With the reviewer you are right. My English is not very good. When I wrote "proofreader" in the knol, I mean "reviewer". Thank you for your question. I changed the word now. But until now we don't have translation-experts. So I think now it's a job for the knol-community. Maybe in the future there will be very very good reviewers.
Every one can be a translator. But you can only earn Translation-Points, if the knol-owner of the translated knol has enough Translation-Points. To let the stone roll, the first twenty knol-authors in the table have virtual Translation-Points for one knol. So you get Translation-Points from then even if they have until now no Translation-Points.
Thanks for your questions and for your suggestion
Andreas

the link: http://knol.google.c
Do have I to put this link in the appropriate section?
Another question: You said that the ratio of the point by character was 1/1... but it's not what you write in the table (11.600 if i'm right.)
EditSaveCancelDeleteDeleteBlock this userReport abusive commentHide report window
okay, you have to wait for a knol in a language you understand. ;-)
Yes you have to put your link in the appriate section. I will wait for the translation, because I have now enough translation-points. Maybe someone without Knol-Translation-Poi
In the column KTP of the table you can write "No. 1" (The first of twenty Knol-Users who gets a translation without Knol-Translation-Poi
I have Knol-Translation-Poi
