Only In America could I have realized my accomplishments. I began work as a stock boy, went on to become a milkman, then beverage salesman. My success as a salesman led to several promotions, first to supervisor, then sales manager and finally general manager of a mid sized beverage company at the age of 32 years old all of which was done without a college education (I attended a year nights at a community college). The company I worked for was sold to ITT in 1976 and I signed a contract to manage the plant and become the marketing manager for upstate New York and New England for their products. In 1980 I was able to purchase the company from my employer ITT in a 100% leverage buyout. After growing the business 500% I sold it in 1993 to Dillon Reed, a major investment banking firm. While running my company I completed the OPM (owners’ presidents’ management) Executive MBA program at Harvard. My experience at Harvard was the catalyst for my entering a PhD program at Albany University in the fall of 1994. I earned my PhD in 2000 and have been teaching leadership and entrepreneurship at Binghamton University since 2001 and in 2007 I was named as one of the top 18 entrepreneurship professors by Fortune Small Business. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fsb/bestcolleges/2007/professors/. In addition to teaching I am involved in a couple of new and exciting ventures whose stories I will be sharing with you in the future...Angelo Mastrangelo
