Goa is a small state in the west coast of India, bordered by the state of Maharashtra on the north, and Karnataka on the south and east. The western part of Goa is lined by the Arabian Sea - which made it world famous as a beach destination. Goa was liberated from Portuguese rule in 1961, and was part of Union territory of Goa, Daman & Diu. Goa was established as a new state on 30th May, 1987.
Being on sea-side, Goa has a warm & humid climate round the year, and the season throughout the year is:

North Goa includes some 233 villages with headquarters at Panjim. North Goa is further divided into six Talukas (listed alphabetically below):
South Goa includes some 150 villages with headquarters at Madgaon. South Goa is further divided into five Talukas (listed alphabetically below):
Tourism is Goa's primary industry and contributor to it's GDP. Goa handles 12% of all foreign tourist arrivals in India. Tourism is basically dependent on beaches on coastal area, with heritage buildings in the inward areas being the next attraction. Recent years have seen an increased focus on medical tourism as well.
Note: I know I have perhaps bitten more than I can chew - by trying to put everything about Goa in this Knol which is close to impossible. Please help me in this endeavor.
