Invisible Fences

the pros of an invisble fence. Keeping our 4 legged friends safe

Invisible fences are becoming the new wave of keeping dogs in the yard, and out of flower beds and other places that owners do not want them to be. Some people spend a lot of money on regular fences hoping to to keep their 4 legged friend safe and at home. One thing dogs are known for are their escape tricks. They can dig through, and under almost anything given the time and freedom to. Doesn't it make you wonder how these dogs get out of yards that have those 6 foot privacy fences, or the rod iron fences with the secure bottoms? Dogs are tricky foes and are born to run wild.

An invisible fence gives the owner an upper hand on keeping their best friend in the yard where they belong. Having a fence is a nice additive to a beautiful back yard, but knowing that your pets are safe makes every one all around feel better.

Some people say those kinds of fences are cruel and unusual punishment for a dog doing what dogs do. Well what is the worst crime, knowing that your dog can get out of the fenced in back yard or doing something about it? What happens to the dogs that do manage to get out of the yard? They roam and have fun, but then they want to go back home, but have no idea how to get back in. Hopefully pet owners do the right thing and have a collar with a name tag on and have the dog chipped so if picked up all the pound has to do is scan the dog and the animal can be returned. But some pet owners think that a fence is good enough. Unfortunately for the many dogs put to sleep every year tells another story. A sad ending that could have been avoided.

Another end to this story is that the dog gets out and is not lucky enough to be saved by animal control, but ends up getting hit by a car. Now there are veterinary bills and the fact the dog my not even survive and you still have to pay for the care and still deal with the devastation with the family. And another end to this is the dog gets scared  and comes upon some unwilling children who want to play with the dog and the dog bites them. Now we have more than we wanted to deal with all because the dog did what dogs do which was dig.

Underground fences are wonderful when the pet is trained properly. There is a training period that lasts about a month for the dog to instill a mental picture of where the fence boundaries are. There are flags that are put into place for the animal and the owner has to make sure that they walk the dog around letting them get a little close to the fence so the warning beep will sound and even let them get the gentle correction buzz that alerts the animal to the fact they walked to close. These fences are not made to be a form of punishment for the dog, just a safety boundary to keep them safe. Some owners do not even bother with the regular expensive and some times an eye soar fences and just use the underground invisible fence.

The choice is to the owner in the end, but I would hate to be the one explaining to their children why their best friend is not coming back.
