Nice explanation, few edits
Also, a link to how to move imap folder over would be great.
The best way to move emails between servers is with IMAP. This should be easy to do with any of the popular email applications.
Step 1) Make sure both server/accounts have IMAP capabilities. Does it need to be enabled? (mt) servers by default support IMAP with no server configuration necessary. For Google Apps, it may need to be enabled.
Step 2) Select your Mail Application of choice: Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird (http://mozilla.com) , Etc
(mt) Email Setup Guides: http://kb.mediatempl
Step 3) Create a IMAP connection to the first server/account, this will create a folder structure matching the first server.
Step 4) Create a IMAP connection to the second server/account, this will create a folder structure matching the second server. (MUST be done within the same email application)
Step 5) Now you can drag and move your emails from one account to the other.
* Drag and drop all of your emails from the old server inbox to the inbox on the new server.
* Drag and drop all your old “Sent mail” into the “Sent Mail” folder in your new server IMAP account.
* Wait patiently - with hundreds of emails it may take a while.
That should be it, your done.
