Allan Kardec is the pseudonym of Hippolyte Rivail, born in Lyon (France). He systematized the spiritist doctrine.


Allan Kardec
is the pseudonym of Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail. He was born in Lyon in October 3, 1804 and dead in Paris in March 31, 1869. Your father was a judge and his name was Jean Baptiste-Antoine Rivail, your mother was called Jeanne Duhamel[1]. Rivail was a notable teacher and philosopher.

Studies

From a catholic family, since early age his father incentived Rivail to write and read classic books. He moved to Yverdun (Swiss), in early age, to study in the Pestalozzi´s School. This school is famous for the reform promoted in the France and German educational system.

Completed their studies, Rivail returned to France.

Pseudonym

Rivail used the pseudonym for differentiate your original pedagogy works from his work in the spiritist doctrine  systematization. About this last work, it was a compiling of messages from differents mediums around the world.
