Bahia

Bahia is a Brazilian state in the northeast region of this country. The climate is tropical and semi-arid and have a total area of 568,000  km². The culture of Bahia is highly influenced by the African descendants, what justify its cultural difference from others Brazilians states.

In Bahia arrived the first Portuguese caravels, specifically in Porto Seguro, in April 22, 1500. One year and Seven months after, the Genoese Americo Vespucio discovered the baía de Todos os Santos, where in the nexts years the portuguese builded a small village, that laterly became the first Brazilian capitol, called Salvador. Currently it is the Bahia capitol.
