Praia do Forte is a fishing village in the Mata de São João municipality, in Bahia (a northeast state of Brazil). Praia do Forte means in English fortress beach, because this beach was protect by a old portuguese castle, the only medieval style in all America continent[1].Praia do Forte is distant about 50 km of Salvador in the north direction, and you arrive there by the Estrada do Côco road (also known as BA-099).
Tourism
In Praia do Forte you have since small hotels, locally knows as pousadas, where you feel like a visitor in a family house, or big resorts, where you feel like in a transatlantic on ground. The first choice is ideal for who likes the contact with "natives", the second choice is for who prefers the contact just with others tourists and the resort animators (usually people from other places of Bahia or Brazil).
Tamar Project
In Praia do Forte you can visit the Tamar Project (in portuguese Projeto Tamar), that is a organization to preserve and study the sea turtles.
