The Austin Community College provides access to high-quality education at affordable tuition rates.  Whether you want to get started on a bachelors degree at an instutition that will help prepare you for University level work, or you want to get a technical certificate or two year associate degree the Austin Community college is a great place to launch your career.
 
 

Central Market Cooking school

Central Market is a grocery store that sells fresh, organic produce and locally raised horomone free beef. It is known for being more like an old time food mart than a large corporate grocery store. The stores all have community rooms that are used for cooking classes, live music, and more.

The schools does not offer a degree or certificate but it does let people learn more about how to prepare the dishes that they love. Most classes are about $50 and last for two to three hours. Recent classes include “Chef's favorites: The other white meat” and “Popular Chinese Restaurant Dishes.”
 
 

The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts

The Natural Epicurean teaches and empowers students to make healthy foods tasty. They emphasize a holistic approach to cooking by helping students develop their technique, personal artistry, attitude and mindfulness. Classes are kept small (max 20 students) to create a friendly and open atmosphere conducive to learning.

The school was created in 1994 by Elizabeth Ann Foster who started the school to advance her appreciation for natural foods cooking in the south. In order to graduate students must complete 800 hours of culinary training to develop their skills in macrobiotic, and vegetarian cooking. General Tuition is $15,000 but if you pay it all at once the price drops to $13,750.
 
 

Battery Up Kids

Barbara Beery used her degree in elementary education from the University of Texas to start Batter up Kids was created in 1991 to teach youngsters how to cook in a safe positive learning environment. The program gets kids involved in the kitchen by teaching wholesome fun filled culinary activities.

The school caters to children as young as 2 ½ through teenagers. Pre-school classes are offered for 2.5 - 4.5 year olds who learn how to cook with an adult and after school and weekend classes are available for older students.
 
 

Cooking by Design

Cooking by Design was created when former television producer Beth Pav put her degree from L'Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda and years of experience as a professional chef towards educating others to love the culinary arts.

The school does not offer a degree, rather it teaches classes one at a time. Classes are limited to about twenty students to keep the experience personal. A typical class is about 2 – 2.5 hours long and costs $75. Popular classes include Girls Grilling 101, Italy's Tuscany, and Minute Meals.
