Apple Inc. is a consumer electronics company who's product lines include iMac (An "All-In-One" consumer computer), iPod (Currently the most successful Portable Media Player on the market) OS X (An operating system based on Unix, which it uses on it's "Macintosh" lines of computers and iPhone and iPod touch devices. Other products include MacBook, Mac Pro and XServe as well as Accessories such as Time Capsule, the "AirPort" range and the Apple "Cinema" Displays.

History


Apple Computer was founded in 1976 in Cupertino, California on April 1st by Steve Jobs (current iCEO, Apple Inc.), Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. The company was created to build and sell Wozniak's Apple I computer, which went on sale in July 1976 at the price-point of $666.66, as Wozniak liked repeating numbers. The Apple I was sold simply as a Motherboard, without a Keyboard, Power Supply or any Video Out jacks.

Apple was incorporated on January 3rd, 1977 with Mike Markkula in place of Ronald Wayne, who had sold his shares back to Steve Jobs and Wozniak.
