Gates to Aesgaard - Episode One & Two by ThePriest

Gates to Aesgaard - Episode One explores the story of Ashen Rose, first mentioned in the Red Sonia companion mod. You learn that Rose and your character were partners, and that the partnership ended badly. A letter arrives from Rose, asking for your help and leading you on a journey into horror and madness. Gates to Aesgaard - Episode One is essentially a series of fairly straightforward dungeon crawls and side trips into new exteriors, with new lore relating to the alternate world space of the mod revealed through books and visions. Custom creatures and items and innovative dungeon design make this an adventure you’ll remember, but the Clive Barker-style of the horror aspects may not suit the tastes of all players. The mod is dark, disturbing, and rich in its own lore. If you are a fan of this style of horror, then you’ll enjoy the trip. Quest rewards include a modest player-owned home and some useful but not overpowered items. Note that the mod's lore, while not contradicting TES lore, is largely separate. Atmosphere is everything in the Gates to Aesgaard series, and the rise and fall in tension is generally handled well in Episode One. There are areas that could use improvement, but on the whole this is an excellent ride through a very dark story.

Gates to Aesgaard - Episode Two finds your character drawn back into the horrific tale of Ashen Rose, given hope that all is not yet lost for his old partner. Although Rose's story was previously explored in Episode One, it is not necessary to have played the previous episode to follow Episode Two. The Priest and his mod team have clearly learned from the previous installment of the series; adventure design elements that were merely good before, here become exceptional. Amazing world spaces, astonishing dungeons, disturbing cinematic sequences and creature designs combine for a roller coaster ride through an adventure that feels like Clive Barker writing a Conan novel. The mod is Lore Neutral, introducing considerable mod-specific lore that does not directly contradict TES lore. Quest rewards here are primarily custom items and cash. The adventure is linear and this style of horror won’t suit every player’s tastes, but the mod itself is exceptionally well put together. It left me looking forward to the next installment of the series.

Integration: The Stranded Light by bg2408

Integration: The Stranded Light is an unusual quest mod. It deeply integrates your race, attributes/skills, and achievements in both Cyrodiil and The Shivering Isles into how you can go about doing its quests. The quests often have many solutions, usually tied into these aspects of your character. It includes more than 60 quests with a strong emphasis on thinking, character interaction, choices, consequences, and lore. A new, joinable guild plays an important role in many of the quests, which often focus on thinking rather than combat, social skills instead of fighting. It also reaches beyond the typical mold of quest mods, seeking to enrich the existing game world as whole by breathing new life into previously ignored aspects of the game, such as the "news" printed in the The Black Horse Courier. The quests don't all follow a single storyline. It's more like a collection of short stories than an epic novel. In addition to the new guild, you will also find interesting quest rewards inspired by the Less Annoying Magic Experience (LAME) mod (which is one of several requirements for this mod), a new form of transportation, and enchanting/spellmaking capabilities for those not in the Mages Guild.
The mod has a lot of requirements, but it's well worth the extra hassle. Currently the mod receives occasional "slice" updates adding new quests and features.
Requires the Shivering Isles expansion, Race Balancing Project (installation and main files required) and Less Annoying Magic Experience.

Heart of the Dead by Middark

This quest starts out as an artifact-MacGuffin seeking quest and expands into something much bigger.  A dying beggar asks the player to help him find an artifact that will allow him to communicate with his deceased wife.  While seeking the Heart of the Dead, the player encounters not only the usual thousand enemies but many excellent NPCs, puzzles, traps, prizes, and the lore of old gods and new. It's a long quest that will take you all over Cyrodiil. This mod is Morrowind-lore-friendly and even adds some intelligent lore for the Mystic Elf race. Along the way you'll team up with several companions, and your choices in dealing with them will make them open up to you or not. The author has cleverly set up the armor and bodies of NPCs necessary to the mod so that they cause no errors regardless of any body mods or cosmetic mods the player uses. The dialogue and rewards take into account the player's gender and specializations; the quest does not project motives and history onto the player nor assume that the player character is human and male. There are also a couple of creepy and incredibly immersive dream sequences.  There's a home and companion reward at the end, but there are also a few other goodies to be picked up along the way.  This mod is about its journey, not its destination, and is worthwhile for that as well as for its clever use of new assets and excellent utilization of the old ones. Highly recommended. Suggested for characters near Lvl-15. No voice acting. Requires the Shivering Isles expansion. PlanetElderScrolls Top 10 for January 2009.

Malevolent by Simyaz

The latest masterpiece from prolific author Simyaz, Malevolent is a complex, multi-pathed, story-driven quest mod revolving around the player's relationship with a sentient suit of armor called "The Armour of Malevolence." The Armour is a charismatic, manipulative and deceptive personality who likes to consider himself "Articulate Evil". After the Player dons the armor for the first time, this personality decides to invade a quiet corner of the player's mind and call it his home. The story that evolves from that point changes depending on the relationship the player has with the Armour, and whether or not you choose to resist the Armour's whims, or submit to them (or any combination of the two). Malevolent has a strong focus on philosophy, metaphysics, and pseudo-psychology. It uses various design techniques such as color-contrasting to separate the real from the surreal, and the wholly imaginary. Although not all dialog is voice-acted, it does feature a large number of voice acted lines for the main characters. TESNexus Mod of the Month for July 2008.

The Dungeons of Ivellon by L@zarus

Steeped in the lore of ancient Cyrodiil, this fantastic adventure is a dungeon crawling tour de force. It features a vast dungeon full of mysteries to be solved, secrets to be discovered and dangers to survive. This is not just another typical Oblivion dungeon. It uses a completely new, custom dungeon tile set modeled after medieval vaults. The backstory is excellent. The dungeons are pitch black and best experienced with a trusty torch or light spell (torches on the walls can be lit, too). It's filled with numerous puzzles and it may take you many hours (if not days) to find your way out, so come prepared to be scared! Recommended for characters in the Lvl-20 to Lvl-30 range. Check out the trailer!

Verona House: Bloodlines by DTom

Acting as a sequel to the Oblivion main quest, Verona House: Bloodlines is an epic story that pits the player against a sinister cult and its charismatic leader. Often described as more of an expansion than a mod, there's no doubt that the scale of the quest is massive. It features roughly 20 hours of new gameplay spread across 11 challenging quests. You will battle your way through huge multi-level dungeons, entire cities and a new plane of oblivion. VHB is filled with engrossing stories, fabulous characters, immersive details, and full voice acting throughout. It includes many custom weapons, clothing and armor. The eponymous Verona House, set in the village of Verona, is the ultimate prize for the quest. The house itself is one of the very best house mods, filled with wonders and delights in ever corner. TESNexus Mod of the Month for March 2008.
There is a conflict with Servants of the Dawn that prevents VHB from starting as expected. SOTD alters the players champion status, which is a prerequisite for VHB to start. The workaround is to open the console console (~) and type Setstage VHQ000 10 then go to Verona Bay and talk to an NPC named Salvo Harding.

Windfall by Ed_Conn

This is a massive, story-driven quest mod that takes place in the once prosperous city of Windfall, on an island south of Anvil. The mod lets you play through as many as 52 different quests spanning multiple storylines set on the island. With several factions vying for dominance of the city, your actions and choices will help determine the course and outcome of the stories. Will you help the rightful ruler put down a rebellion and restore peace to the City? Or will you help the peasants overthrow the oppressive ruler and liberate the city? The choice is yours. And what of the rest of the island and its inhabitants? This is a great mod for low-level characters, and should also scale up fairly well for higher-level characters. In the grand tradition of Morrowind, there's not much handholding here, so you'll need to figure out a lot of things on your own (without the help of quest markers) and you'll often need to talk to more than one NPC to figure out what's going on. No voice acting yet. This is one of the best quest mods around. Highly recommended!

The Ayleid Steps by Ervvyn

Ever wondered just what all those ancient Ayleid stones were supposed to do? This large quest mod follows the premise that the stones once formed a massive teleportation network. The introductory quest teaches you how to use Welkynd Stones to activate the "Steps", which can then teleport you directly into Ayleid ruins, Ayleid wells, and many other locations the Ayleids once considered important. But this is all just the beginning. Once you start exploring the Steps, you're in for plenty of surprises, deadly situations, and a hefty dose of addictive adventuring goodness. Many of the Steps are defective and will refuse to work, or beam you to random locations. You can land in someone's basement, in government buildings, in caves in the middle of a bunch of goblins, and in very remote and unusual places. Or you can discover sunken ruins, hitherto unknown to man, where lots of treasure and enemies await you. You can play this one for a long time. Includes some 800 different Steps and 40 new dungeons, each of which has several levels to explore. In total there are now at least 86 new levels with the latest release.  Perhaps the best part about all this is that it demands both brains and brawn. You'll need brains to crack the hints that lead to the dungeons, where you'll then have to fight your way out. If you get stuck, just relax and the chances are good that you'll stumble across more of the new dungeons by accident while player other quests. Strongly recommended for Ayleid enthusiasts. Works for players of any level, but if you use an overhaul like OOO then you may have trouble surviving some of the dungeons until you're near Lvl-15.  This mod is compatable with most other mods.  The author puts a great deal of effort in keeping this mod compatible.

The Lost Spires by Liquidgraph

C&C - The Blackwood Company by Lingwei & showler

Updated to 1.01 -- includes an OOO compatibility patch! Were you bummed that you couldn't join the Blackwood Company in Oblivion and had to settle on the Fighters Guild? Do you wonder what it's like from the eyes of a Blackwood Company member when you were a Fighters Guild member? Now is your chance to experience the adventure from the Blackwood Company's point of view! There are 17 main quests and up to 13 additional side quests depending on your choices in the main quests. This mod puts a heavy emphasis on choices and consequences. Choose your options carefully because the choices you make will have an impact on the storyline and even the ending itself! Interesting and varied quests best expressed as: "Fighters Guild meets the Dark Brotherhood." Face difficult choices during the storyline, such as testing your loyalty to the Blackwood Company or to the Dark Brotherhood. Great replayability; play it through a second time to see what effect choosing the other path would have. Approximately 950 unique lines of dialogue, though you won't get to read it all in one playthrough. An estimated 6 hours of gameplay multiplied by two due to replayability for a total of 12 hours of gameplay! Voice acting is planned but currently not available yet.

Ruined Tail's Tale by Simyaz

Update 3.0 is out! Throughout the course of your time together you will learn more about what drives Ruin and what haunts him, and through numerous multi-path conversations, complex scripted sequences, and challenging strategy-orientated encounters, you will play an integral part in shaping Ruined-Tail's Tale to its ultimate conclusion. This is one of the best Oblivion quest mods released so far. It is a quest mod disguised as a companion mod, featuring an Argonian Battlemage named Ruined-Tail (or Ruin, for short). It includes detailed character conversations and an in-depth storyline. What the player says will directly affect Ruin's development as a character and determine the eventual outcome of his quest. The quest itself is long, detailed, engaging, and further enhances the concept that Ruin is not simply an NPC ally, but more of a definitive companion, with his own personality, needs and fears. The 3.0 version is a complete rebuild of the original mod with a much stronger focus on pacing and plot development. It adds new locations, new scripted story sequences, new dialog choices, new companion features, and much more. TESNexus Mod of the Month for December 2008.

Dremora Companion by b3w4r3 (and a large team)

Update 1.1 adds additional voice acting! This is yet another quest mod disguised as a companion mod. It adds eight new quests and includes extensive voice acting, new armor and weapons, a new player home you can acquire, many retextured interiors, and a great storyline. The story starts with haunting dreams of a Dremora wrongfully imprisoned in Dagon's Deadlands -- and leads you to eventually taking assignments from Lord Dagon himself! This mod is simply chock-full of amazing new features. The final release is definitely a landmark event in Oblivion modding history. For example, your companion Amoz can be added to any of the main factions in vanilla Oblivion by simply summoning him in the proper guild interiors. This is just one small example -- touches of perfection like this abound. Highly recommended (but probably not for good-guy types :-).  This mod conflicts with Kvatch Aftermath and Mini Cyrodiil because all three make changes to oblivion gates. The one loaded last will be the one that works. TESNexus Mod of the Month for October 2008.

Tears of the Fiend: Redemption by Simyaz

Update 1.22 -- Redemption -- is out! More than a year in the making, this mod brings together two of the most compelling story-driven mods released to date -- The Legacy and The Butcher of Armindale -- merging them into a unified storyline that will rock your world like nothing else has before. Includes the complete story/quest arcs from The Legacy and The Butcher (see the separate listings for those mods below) along with a new conclusion that takes place after the events in both of the original mods. Like the originals, this is a complex, multi-pathed quest/companion adventure that spans numerous encounters with more than 4,000 lines of dialogue, all driven by a powerful and riveting story. There are multiple paths you can take through the quests, each resulting in varying encounters and endings depending on your choices and actions. An instant classic, to be sure. Does not include voice acting. Note that you must not run this at the same time as The Legacy or The Butcher of Armindale -- if you have either of those mods, you must remove them before loading this one. The 1.2 update adds a massive new quest called Redemption that can be played during the main part of the story or afterward (if you've already completed TotF 1.0). TESNexus Mod of the Month for July 2007.

Origin of the Mages Guild by Giskard

This excelllent mod aims to revamp the Arcane University and each of the local Mages Guild halls. It adds tons of lore about the guild and gives you plenty of things to do once you become Archmage to restore the former glory of the guild, such as attending council sessions, recruiting an assistant, acquiring unique artifacts, rebuilding the devastated Bruma Mages Guild hall, and more. If you are a lore fan and a mage, this should be part of your mod list. Includes voice acting and tons of new literature to read.
Also includes some undocumented quests that are playable from the beginning of the game.
Requires the Cyrodiil Upgrade Resource Pack (CURP). There is also an update available: Dragon Captions CUO Resource Pack. The CURP update fixes many small issues in the original and disables the automatic message containing Giskard's "goodbye" letter, which some players found annoying.

Bartholm by jsera

Version 6.0 is out! This incredible mod adds a new town, a new island village, numerous NPCs, and much more -- it now has 24 quests and many of them are repeatable! It features very good voice acting for all the dialog and excellent quests. Ruled by Count Serverus Victrix, Bartholm is a small town consisting of a Castle, Arena, Inn, General Store, Chapel, Stables, Mages' Guild, and eight houses. The village of Slartholm, situated on the Isle of Slart, includes an Inn, General Store, Blacksmith, Barracks, Alchemist Tent, and three houses. In Bartholm, you can uncover a plot against the Count, take on random Dark Brotherhood contracts, random pickpocketing missions for the Thieves Guild, fight in the Arena and become Bartholm's Grand Champion, fight in daily free-for-all matches and defend your title once a week after you're the champion, attempt to eradicate some ghosts haunting the town, solve a longstanding skooma problem, go hunting with Filthy Fargus, search for a bottle of Rockville Rum, help out with an unwanted house guest issue, rent a room at the Lodge, purchase a house in town from the Count and furnish it, and of course create mayhem around town and get arrested or killed by the guards. If you get bored in town, you can join the Bartholm Foreign Legion, travel to the island village of Slartholm, help defend the island from a Moarmer attack, go hunting pirates on the high seas, and much more. The quest dealing with the count and his family is particularly well done (you can side with either the Dark Brotherhood or the count). Highly recommended.

StarX Vanilla Vampires Revised by StarX

This mod revamps the vampires in Oblivion, making them much more dangerous, and adds several new vampire factions. You can join the Vampires of House Serentin or join the Vampire Hunters Guild. It also adds tons of new items and spells, a new vampire death sequence (they now die in a burst of flames, leaving only a charred skeleton behind!), new vampire eyes, and makes vampires more beautiful in general. Creepy atmosphere abounds since most of the vampire dungeons have been revamped to make them look like vampire lairs instead of average dungeons. Highly recommended for vampire lovers (whether you love to hunt them or play as one).
No voice acting. If you play this mod, you should really use a torch or a light spell, as using night eye would ruin most of the experience. There are a few potential drawbacks to the mod: it's still a beta, meaning some icons are missing, etc., and it has some conflicts with other mods that add vampires, such as OOO/FCOM. The new factions will fight with vampires added by other mods. There is a patch for the faction problems and overlapping containers with OOO.
SVVR can be viewed as lore unfriendly, partly because you now have two races of vampires, but at least now they don't all look like old rugged carpets. They mean business and that's what makes SVVR good.

Blood & Mud: Dirt Deluxe Anglais by ~Ryan~

This is a complete English translation of the original German mod, Blood & Mud I-III. It completely revamps the city of Bravil to be a much darker, more brutal place, infested by all manner of scum. It adds more than twenty new NPCs with amazing voice acting spanning more than 800 unique dialogs across three major new quests. It adds many new buildings to Bravil, as well as tons of new items. We finally get a chance to play this classic German mod! Don't forget to check out the awesome trailer! If you also use Qarl's Texture Pack 3, there's a compatibility patch available.

Daggerfall Memories: The Liberation of Cybiades
by Deathless Aphrodite

This excellent quest mod adds only one new quest, but it's listed with the "big mods" because it takes place in an entirely new worldspace -- the island of Cybiades (from Daggerfall) -- and includes tons of new models, textures, weather types, creatures, NPCs, tree types, sounds effects, and much more. The quest is incredibly well done and includes excellent voice acting for all the dialog. The story revolves around an evil threat to the settlers on the island. The amount of work that went into this is simply staggering.

Kvatch Aftermath by giskard

The most current version is 7.3. This mod rebuilds Kvatch into a fully functional city. Almost every building is occupied and every citizen has a life of their own. Provided you saved Kvatch, you enter the city as the Hero of Kvatch and have the option to become Count of Kvatch and control its developement. From then on, you will need to speak to various people to find new quests that will allow you to improve the city further. Some NPCs may not have any quests for you at first, but as you develop the city, their needs will grow and more quests will become available. Most quests cost you money, but some are combat-related. Each quest leads to ever more expensive improvements becoming affordable. Some renovations benefit you directly, but most will improve the city itself. Eventually, you will finish upgrading kvatch and it will become the city it once was, but at first the only renovations you will see completed are the ones the citizens have done on their own. Kvatch Citizens enjoy walks in the memorial gardens, but most like to drink and can be frequently found in one of the two pubs when they are not busy. Others will visit the rebuilt castle and admire the trophy cabinets. Kvatch has an active night life, but most people are in bed by Midnight, especially since the ghosts of former citizens who died during the battle may haunt the areas they once knew. Its safe to make any Kvatch Guard a companion using Toaster Says Share.
Earlier versions could only be used after completing the Kvatch Quests and once you're already the Hero of Kvatch, but the 5.x versions and later work even from the start of the game.
Conflicts with Kvatch Rebuilt (for obvious reasons), Dremora Companion and Mini Cyrodiil.  Because Kvatch Aftermath, Dremora Companion and Mini Cyrodiil all edit oblivion gates, the last to load will work while the others will not.  Do not run Kvatch Aftermath and Kvatch Rebuilt with the same savegame.
Recent versions include changes to the Kvatch-related quests ("Breaking the Siege of Kvatch" and "The Battle for Castle Kvatch"). If you would rather play the original versions of these quests, simply wait until after the second one is completed before activating Kvatch Aftermath.

Requires the Cyrodiil Upgrade Resource Pack (CURP). There is also an update available: Dragon Captions CUO Resource Pack. The CURP update fixes many small issues in the original and disables the automatic message containing Giskard's "goodbye" letter, which some players found annoying.
The Dragon Captions team is working on an update version 7.4.  The version 7.4 available on file front is not by either Dragon Captions or Giskard and major game breaking issues have been reported with that one.

Knights of the White Stallion
by Cleitanious/Marine OKeefe/Modder 300/ByblosHex

New Version 4.4 is out! This mod takes Mazoga the Orc's story to a new level. It adds new quests, dungeons, weapons, and armor, all focusing on the Knights of the White Stallion. The new quests and dungeons focus on dramatically expanding the Knights' conflict with the Black Bow bandits, as well as making both the Knights and the Black Bow more vibrant and interesting. Learn why Count Leyawiin hates the Bandits so much. Save the Count's missing daughter. Confront the Black Bow leader, Gafgarian The Black. Gain your own White Stallion mount and perhaps even become captain of the Knights, giving you access to the Captain's Hall and a special Hollowed Minotaur's Horn that can be blown to call your mighty steed. The White Stallion Lodge is dramatically expanded and remade. A roaring good time for good-guy types.

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul by Sotobrastos

Updated to 1.33! This mod is much more than a quest mod, and most of what it does is beyond the scope of this blurb, but it does include several excellent new freeform quests. It also adds a huge amount of great lore and dramatically rebalances the risk-vs-reward for most of the vanilla quests in the game, as well as making many of the random dungeons a lot less random. Unlike previous versions, many of the new quests now give journal entries, but you still have to figure them out the old-fashioned way (yes, you do still have a brain, don't you?) by deciphering hints and clues from books, scrolls, notices, and notes. Start by reading the Imperial Notices posted near the gates of most major cities. If you get completely stuck, you can always check the OOO Spoilers, or just wait until you stumble across them during your other adventures. This mod won GameSpy's Best Mod of the Year award for 2006. The 1.33 update won the TESNexus Mod of the Month for June 2008.

Thieves Arsenal Mission Zero: Odd Jobs
by scruggsywuggsy the ferret

This mod primarily focuses on expanding the stealth gameplay options for thieves (taking inspiration from the venerable Thief series). However, it also includes a great random quest feature (hence the title "Odd Jobs"), in addition to significantly expanding the roleplaying possibilities for thieves. It includes full voice acting, a ton of great new items, and new AI behaviors that alter the way NPCs and guards react to you. The Odd Jobs quests are pseudo-randomly-generated quests that all follow a similar pattern: go to a randomly-selected dungeon, locate a randomly-selected treasure stored in a randomly-placed chest, and return with it. The catch is that you have to succeed without killing anyone, and you get bonus points if you manage to do it without ever being detected. The best part? These quests never run out! New items include the Blackjack (knock people unconscious), Noisemakers (distract opponents while you sneak past undetected), Vine Arrows (create climbable vines for circumventing obstacles and making quick getaways), Gas Arrows (put enemies to sleep), Water Arrows (extinguish lights), Grease Arrows (slippery traps), and more. New AI behaviors include Suspicion (NPCs now notice odd occurences around them, like lights going out or unconscious bodies lying around, and suspicious actors will actively search for you), Unconscious (NPCs and creatures can be rendered unconscious, and while unconscious, they can be drowned, looted, and dragged around, etc.), Crime (normal civilians will flee to the guards to report your crimes, and guards will not arrest or fine you unless they can actually see you), and more. Highly recommended for sneaky types. Check out the YouTube video here. Requires OBSE. TESNexus MOD of the Month for February 2008.

The Sentient Weapon by NarkyBark

Sentient Weapon II updated to version 1.2 on 2/14/2009! A wandering weaponsmith gives you an offer - he'll make you a sentient weapon if you can just get him all the materials. It promises to be powerful, but also potentially comical, as the weapon will audibly comment on your adventures as you go. You'll get to choose the type of weapon you want and choose between three different personalities for the weapon (or all three!): Fred the Coward, who is an eternal pessimist; Atkivir the Murderer, who delights in misery and killing; and Samson the (wanna be) Hero, who's just a regular guy and isn't terribly special. The mod includes more than 800 lines of voice-acted dialog for the weapon. Each personality also has mildly different combat abilities, but this is especially true if you make a critical hit (which is fairly rare). A critical hit from Fred might make the enemy run away, one from Atkivir deals heavy damage, and one from Samson cripples their combat abilities. Also includes three mini quests -- one for each personality. Help with a task involving a past problem and you can find out more about their lives. Completing a weapon task makes that weapon more powerful, and gives it a hated enemy, so that the more of the specific foe you defeat, the more powerful your weapon gets! Get the 3.1 patch to fix several bugs. If you also use Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items mod or Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, there's a compatibility patch to rebalance the Sentient Weapon stats in accordance with OOO/MOBS stats. There's also an updated version, The Sentient Weapon II, which adds several new quest options.

Enhanced Daedric Invasion by markb50k

This mod makes the invasion of Cyrodiil by Mehrunes Dagon's forces dramatically more interesting, realistic and intense. Dremora will actually attack the cities, while the Imperial Legion and even other heroes will attempt to defeat them. Citizens, guild members, and even bandits can be recruited to help defend the land. If you have achieved a high rank in the Fighters Guild or Mages Guild, you gain the added benefit of being able to recruit much stronger allies for these battles. Or, if you play a less honorable character, you can recruit bandits and marauders to help in the fight. If you like a real challenge and a lot of big battles, this mod's for you. Do not add this mod to your game if you want to avoid dealing with the invasion. Can be FPS-intensive. Greatly increases the difficulty of Oblivion gate encounters, especially if you are low level.

Myths and Legends : Weapons
by TemplarGFX, GrimDeath, SykoFox, GamerGirlx

This mod adds quests to recover 14 unique artifacts. Each weapon has a story filled with clues that you must decipher and follow in order to find the weapons. The quests are designed for high-level players. Finding these weapons at a low level will be impossible for some, and the weapons will likely be overpowered for low-level characters if you do find them. The difficulty of the quests ranges from moderate to insane. This is intentional since the weapons are powerful and the difficulty is commensurate with this. To start, you must seek out various books at merchants in various cities. Don't forget to add the update and the the patch.

Mighty Umbra by Damar Stiehl

This quest mod revolves around Umbra the Sword, which is among the mightiest weapons to have ever been forged in Tamriel. Created by an ancient witch, who was executed for bringing a weapon of such unadulterated evil into the world, it exists for one thing and one thing only: to slay all things that come in its path and consume their souls. Men and mer, kings and paupers, heroes and villains, and even daedra have all bled for Umbra, their Animi devoured by the ever-hungry blade. This is an extremely tough, multi-stage quest with very harsh conditions, but the rewards are well worth it. It provides a true-to-lore expansion of Umbra the Sword's history and makes the sword into a living entity with a deep thirst for blood and souls. This mod is highly recommended for those who relish extreme challenges. It's also one of my personal all-time favorites. Re-Uploaded by buddah!

A man named Alex is searching for help in Bravil. He wants you to retrieve the Elemental Stones from the temple and light the Elemental Lighthouses with them, so the elements in Tamriel will be balanced. But, are Alex's intentions really that noble? Did he really tell you everything? And who is this Wise One, who tries to prevent you from lighting the lighthouses, saying you are making a mistake? Loosely based on the GBA game Golden Sun, this mod focuses on puzzle-action challenges rather than fighting-action. You'll have to go through a series of puzzle challenges to collect the elemental stones and then another series of puzzle challenges to light the four elemental lighthouses. Examples of these puzzle challenges include running over a crumbling bridge while avoiding falling rocks, finding your way through a maze with invisible paths in the air and lightning shooting stones, and so forth. Even fairly low-level characters should be able to survive if your wit is quick. Not compatible with Open Cities: Bravil because Alex will never show up. Also, don't try to bring any companions because they will get stuck. Not for TES lore freaks. Everyone else should have a blast.

Servant of the Dawn by Endrek

Disappointed that the main questline of Oblivion forces you to be the "good guy"? This mod lets characters who have already completed the main quest to "redeem" themselves by joining the second wave efforts of the Mythic Dawn. It starts where the main questline left off and expands the Mythic Dawn faction with a complete set of ranks and quests. It includes new artifacts and powers to wield, a branching questline with several different outcomes depending on your actions, letting you dabble in the inner workings and politics of a Daedra cult and command a host of followers, from acolytes to dremora. You can rise through the ranks to become the new Master, or perhaps even more powerful...

Mysteries of the Dulan Cult by Juib Thealas

Led by a Dremora who was banished from the plane of Oblivion for his love of science, an underground cult is planning to rule all of Cyrodiil. Can you stop them? This is a remake of an older mod called "The Pyramid of Knowledge." This mod has some conflict issues with a lot of other mods, but most of these issues can be solved by using TES4Edit to clean out accidental changes.

Enhanced Quest Roleplaying by wsrowland

This mod is an attempt to improve roleplaying in Oblivion by giving the player more conversation options with NPCs during quests, providing different ways to complete certain quests, allowing the player to refuse quests he/she does not want to do (through dialogue, not just ignoring the quest), altering certain journal entries to give a more neutral summary of events, modifying changes in fame/infamy to better correspond with good, neutral, or evil decisions. The main focus of the mod is on the "major" miscellaneous quests, as they seem the most restrictive in terms of roleplaying (all characters get them, so all characters should be able to complete them in a fitting way). Bethesda's focused on designing these quests for good characters, so most of the changes add options for neutral or evil characters, as the good options are already well-integrated. However, there are a few cases where the good choice is not so well represented, and those have been changed as well.

Artifacts of Tamriel 300 by Marine OKeefe (Cleitanious/Modder 300/ByblosHex)

This mod adds many classic TES artifacts to Oblivion. The book "Tamrielic Lore" tells of the greatest known artifacts and relics of Tamriel, along with hints as to their locations. Be wary, however, as the current owners of these mighty items are not going to hand them over without a fight. Each weapon and armor has its own new models, textures and icons. Their powers and stats are the same as found in the previous Elder Scrolls games. They include such famous items as the Bipolar Blade, the Fang of Haynekhtnament, the Ice Blade of the Monarch, the Mace of Slurring, Chrysamere, Eleidon's Ward, the Fists of Randagulf, the Lord's Mail, Ten Pace Boots, the Dragonbone Armor, and Gambolpuddy.

The Imperial Legion Faction mod brings the Imperial Legion to Tamriel as a joinable faction. Adds a new District to the Imperial City, located Northwest of the Elven Gardens District. The main quest spans several hours and there are numerous side quests. Includes new armors, weapons, and a spell to summon your own Legion patrol under your command. No voice acting. This mod is still a beta release.
