Breckenridge Mountain Biking: A Trail for Everyone

Breckenridge rentals

Mountain biking is one of Breckenridge’s most popular summer activities with lots of trail variety and easy Breckenridge rental options.

Mountain biking is one of Breckenridge’s favorite sports. Not only is the town filled with an array of single-track trails, but the views are stunning no matter what direction the path takes. And, because of the many Breckenridge rentals options, finding a bike in town is as easy as finding a trail.

Benefits of Biking Breck:

Biking season starts off in the spring in Breckenridge, which puts bikers at the peak of wildflower season. As the last of the snow melts down the mountain, a rainbow of gorgeous flowers dot the mountains and the town’s trails. As spring turns to summer, the beauty of the mountain stays consistent, and mild temperatures create the perfect environment for a full- or half-day ride. Finally, fall also carries unbeatable charm as the aspen trees turn their glowing yellow, filling trails with the shimmering beauty that represents fall in Colorado.

Family Friendly Biking:

Another great reason to bike Breck is because of its array of trails and terrain. Extreme bikers can get their fill just as much as novice riders or families. In fact, Boreas Pass is the perfect easy to moderate trail that is family friendly and easily accomplished as a short day trip. Not only do scenic views line the trail, but riders also get a taste of Breckenridge history as they ride through remains of old rail beds and water tanks that hint back to Breckenridge’s strong roots. Perhaps the easiest way to approach Boreas Pass is to park at the Breckenridge Ice Rink and begin climbing Boreas Pass Road, a wide route that takes riders through aspen groves, which are particularly stunning in the early- to mid-fall.

No Pain, No Gain:

For those bikers who are looking for elevation gain, Breckenridge will surely not disappoint. In fact, riding the eleven miles to the top of Hoosier Pass, located just at the south end of Breckenridge, is a thrill for riders up for the challenge. Bikers share switchbacks with drivers as they rise more than 11,000 feet above sea level to find the exceptional panoramic views along the way and the thrill of conquest at the top. The combined effort of sharing the road with motorists and the steep elevation gain mean that the ride up Hoosier Pass is challenging and should be reserved for experienced bikers.

Biking on the Mountain:

Perhaps there’s no better way to get an inside look at the Breckenridge Ski Resort than on a bike. Head toward Peak 9 and the Beaver Run Resort to access the Burro Trail, a pristine mountain ride that takes bikers through forests, streams, and all things beautiful in Breck. And, the best part about the Burro Trail is the options that await the biker with each new turn. For example, the trail connects with Spruce Creek Road, which is a good point to either turn around and begin descending down the mountain or continue on toward McCullough Gulch.

Borrowing is Welcome:

Travelling to Breckenridge should be easy, and the rental shops in town make it their goal to provide all the equipment and accessories needed to hit the trails. Mountain bikes, helmets, and just about any other type of gear is easy to rent in Breckenridge. And, with the endless option of Breckenridge rentals, ranging from condos and townhomes to fully stocked vacation homes, visitors can choose to ride around the neighborhood or take a nearby trail to a further destination.

In Breckenridge, choosing that destination is the fun part. Mountain biking is at its best in Breckenridge. So, what are you waiting for? Get on that bike and ride Breck.
