Born in Auburn California into a wonderful family. Took piano lessons from an early age, but like most kids, didn't take to it until I was about 14 when I had an opportunity to play in the school combo. I had to learn chords in a hurry, and then comping and then improvisation. After that progress was rapid. Had many fine teachers along the way, including the great Dave Robertson in Hollywood.
