The 1930, two engineering graduate students of Stanford University set out to do their work in a garage in Palo Alto. This is known as the birth place of the “Silicon Valley”. Due to a series of inventions related to “Silicon” technology, it was dubbed “Silicon Valley”.
It transformed what was previously a farm area comprising largely of orchards, to the high tech hub it is today. Silicon Valley continues to be the leading high tech hub because of its large, diverse number of engineers and venture capitalists, mixed with the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoor lifestyle that California offers.
One of the major reasons for Silicon Valley's success is the ability to attract people from all over the world to live and work in the valley. The cultural mix and the diversity of ethnic traditions have enriched all of us. Here is a list of some companies of Silicon Valley: Adobe, Electronic Arts, Agilent, HP, National Semiconductor, SanDisk, Intel, AMD, IBM, Apple, Microsoft, Sun Micro, Oracle, CISCO, Google, eBay, Palm, Trend Micro, and Macrovision.
