I am a board certified specialist in Internal Medicine practicing currently as a Hospitalist in Virginia Beach, VA, providing a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic hospital care for patients with a wide variety of serious illnesses, including respiratory and cardiac diseases, diabetes, various infectious diseases, cancer, gastrointestinal illnesses, and others. My focus is on patient care, support, and service, with special attention to bedside etiquette and compassion.
I graduated from Ohio University with a BS degree and Ohio State University College of Medicine with an MD degree, and completed residency and board certification at Creighton University Hospitals in Omaha, NE.
I began practice as an office-based Internist in 1976 in Virginia Beach, serving also as a hospital consultant until 2003, after which I limited my practice to hospital work. I have been involved in teaching students and residents, hospice volunteers, nurses, and emergency medical technicians in the past. I am a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and have achieved Fellowship status in the American College of Physicians.
My favorite hobby has been model railroading for the past 17-18 years, modeling in HO scale early on, but most recently in N scale. I am currently working on my fourth layout and recently developed an instructional website on
how to build a model railroad. I have greatly enjoyed building layouts and writing about my experiences and what I have learned over the years relating to the hobby. My site is located at http://www.building-your-model-railroad.com.
I am currently planning to develop another site in the near future on another topic about which I have a considerable about of passion and interest, which should prove enlightening to medical professionals as well as patients. Stay tuned.
