SEO Copywriting Frequency

How much do you have to write?

The bad news: An SEO Copywriting campaign, on its own, requires a lot of work.

The good news: Success is nearly inevitable.

If you want great search rankings that last, you must have an SEO copywriting strategy. Text content is what makes or breaks a smart, long-term search engine optimization strategy.

If your only SEO tool is copy, then you'll want to know how much, and how often, you must write. Here's how you do it:

Check the Competition

Go to Google. Search for your target keyphrase.

How many other pages show up in the results?

Competing pages are at the upper-right

In this example, I've got 298,000 competitors. That's not too bad, in internet terms.

Figure Out How Much Writing You'll Need

My rule of thumb:

<10,000 competing pages: Write once a week.
10,001-100,000 competing pages: Write twice a week.
100,001-200,000 competing pages: Write three times a week.
200,001-2,000,000 competing pages: Write every day.

Anything beyond that, you'll need to write at least every day, for a long, long time. If you can write more often, even better.

That's a lot, I know. You can likely reduce the amount of writing necessary if you can conduct a well-rounded SEO campaign. If your only tool is copywriting, though, count on writing a lot.

Also count on it taking a long time: 3-12 months is a good estimate for an SEO copywriting campaign. And, you'll need to keep writing and adding content to your site

The bright side, though: Success is inevitable. If you keep writing, and your content is great, you'll get more and more traction in the rankings.
