WYSIWYG

What you see is what you get.

WYSIWYG is a common acronym for the phrase "what you see is what you get".

The acronym WYSIWYG is shorthand for the phrase "What You See Is What You Get".  It often refers to the type of desktop publishing word processing editors that allow you to create complicated documents in an easy to use publishing application.

It can also be used to describe website or other development applications that allow for the creation of complex applications in an easy to use visual environment. This alleviates the need for the user to have advanced knowledge of programming languages such as HTML, CSS, VB Script, Java Script, PHP, .Net, etc...

WYSIWYG editors are also frequently found in website content management systems (CMS).
