Blogs are sites online that are most often created and written by an individual. That person writes frequently about events or post pictures, graphics and videos with or without commentary. All the posts appear in the opposite order they were posted. So the newest post appears first. To blog means to write a web log.

Blogs have been used for many different reasons, primarily as a way to publish on a particular subject such as news, commentaries, topics of interest or personal diaries. As blogs continue to grow they are increasingly incorporating images, text, video, interlinking between other blogs and related media. One of the abilities for a reader is the commenting feature allowing for maximum interaction between publisher and reader. Blogs can come in all shapes, sizes and cover just about every topic imaginable. Growing ever increasingly popular is the ability to blog in audio (podcasting) and video (vlog).

In late 2007, the blog search engine Technorati tracked more than 112 million blogs.^[1]
