Assemble
Note: Exact dimensions are relatively unimportant. Cut your tags to the length and shape you want.
1. Cut a rectangular strip of card stock for the tag.
2. With scissors, cut one corner diagonally. Refer to the picture above. Place cut off corner piece over the other corner. Clip the second corner using the clipped off piece as a guide. This ensures that both corners are evenly shaped.
3. Using your printer, OR printing by hand, print "Penguin Poop" near the top of the tag. Print the poem near the bottom of the tag.
4. From a second color of card stock, cut the flower shape. You can do this using a die cut, punch, computer print out, template, clip art shape or freehand drawing. The flower in the picture is cut with the Cricuit machine and the Walk in my Garden cartridge
5. Using the third color of card stock, cut a circular shape that is sized to hold the penguin image you are planning on using and to fit inside the flower shape. Again, you can do this with a die cut machine, a punch, a computer printout, clip art, or by drawing a circle using a template.
6. Stamp the penguin in the middle of the circle OR apply a sticker or clip art image of a penguin. If you are stamping, a good effect is to stamp with black pigment ink then emboss with clear embossing powder.
7. If you have stamped the penguin, use your glaze pens to color in the scarf and hat (red), beak (orange) and feet (yellow).
8. Using your red glaze pen, print "For You" beside the penguin OR stamp a small sentiment using red stamping ink and a stamp of your choosing
9. Glue the circle to the center of the flower shape.
10. Using the mounting tape or 3-D Glue Dots, attach the flower to the tag.
11. Punch a small hole near the top of the tag's point.
12. Put candy in freezer bag and tie with twist tie.
13. Run ribbon or fiber through the hole in the tag and tie the tag to the bag of candy.
Tip for Positioning the Printing
If you prefer to print your poem and the words "Penguin Poop" using your word processor and printer, this is how to position it correctly:
Open a new file in your word processor (e.g. Word) and enter the title and the poem. Leave several spaces between the title and the poem -- enough that it roughly forms the shape of the tag that you want. Print this out on ordinary printer paper. Do not change anything in your computer file. Cut a rectangle of card stock to fit over the printing on the printer paper. Do not clip the corners yet. Then, using temporary or repositional adhesive (available at craft stores), affix the card stock rectangle over the printer paper and print the document again. It should print directly on the card stock tag, positioning it perfectly. Since the adhesive is temporary, simply pull the card stock away from the printer paper and continue as before. If you are making more than one tag, you can continue in the same way so long as your computer file remains unchanged.
