USA Politics are in isolation and lack discussion in a global forum

Far too many posts by Americans neglect to consider that any policies have far reaching consequences all over the world. Other countries debate in an open forum yet Americans think it doesn't concern anyone else!

The hydrogen economy for example... does this mean its only important for Americans?
Actually most that I have read by an American scientist are on the never ending road to finding a solution for hydrogen storage.

Hydrogen storage, from an Englishman's point of view is both dangerous and futile:

Do Americans consider alternative ideas?

It should prove to be an interesting term!

Barack Obama is going to be heading the USA at a very difficult time. A lot of extra pressure is on him that doesn't seem to have been put on many other presidents.

He has already been likened to JFK, FDR and many socio-political names of the past. People are expecting miracles out of his presidancy -- but, let's face it -- he's yet another president whose power is limited and many of the campaign promises are of things for which he can only make strong suggestions to Congress for, not make into law himself.

The only definitive no-questions-asked power that a President has is the power to declare an act of war. All other powers go through checks and balances. He has to convince The People (us) to convince their Congressmen/Congresswomen that a particular issue is important, in the hopes that things will go the way that he hopes it to go.

None of that has changed! The fact that he has a very unique name and has darker skin than most presidents have had shouldn't make much difference with the exception of how much influence his opinions will have over the people. It will help in some areas, perhaps less so in others.

Either way, the next four years will be very interesting.

Re-Capitalism

Ideological leanings of Administrations are actually not major concerns of common people, especially here in Nigeria.

The People expect to have basic necesities of modern living which Administrations must provide as part of their own contractual obligations.

Concerns about Ideological dispositions of Administrations to my opinion, is an elite pastime.

Capitalism works

The damocratic party and the republican party differ on all issues, but the main difference of their veiws is their vision for the role of goverment in our daily lives. Basically the republican's view is Captialism, where the gov. stays out of the hair of the big buisnesses. Poeple have the right to free enteprise and if you get what you deserve. So, If you are frugal, work for your pay, and don't make to many mistakes, you will suceed. BUT if you are lazy and sit on your couch instead of going out and working you will social status will drop cosistantly. In this system there is little gov. handouts and if you want money, or capital, you actually have to work for it. Capitalism promotes competition which drives people to do better and work harder. isn't that what form our country, hard working people.
In the new system that barock obama wants to inforce is basically Socialism. There will be more government handouts, and people will be able to basically live a simple life off the wellfare that the gov. gives them. if this happens there will many more lazy lower class people in our society who have no motivation to get up and get a job.
Think capitalism like the game of baseball, or any sport for that matter. The different teams are the busineses and the leage you are in is the economy for the business you have. in baseball the best team wins, right? Okay you want to be on the best team so you work hard to get on that team. you might have to start out in a minor leage team before you get to the big leage but you work hard then eventually if you gain enough skills and experience you will make it to the team you want to be on. The coaches dont just pick anyone to be on the team, they only pick the people they deem worthy.
Think of Sociallism as a recreaitional baseball leage where no has the motivation to win becase there is competition. The coaches in this leage don't have a real criteria for their roster, their moto is "everyone is equal and get equal playing time." so if everyone is equal poeple have no reson to work hard because no matter what they will always have the same amount of playing time.
Socialism destroys the american dream and promotes laziness, while Captalism motivates people to work hard and promotes excellence. You decide what you want our country to be lazy or excellent.
