You can choose the events you would like to receive email about by going to the Settings > Email page. The settings apply to all of your knols. You can increase or decrease the frequency of these notifications depending on your interest level each activity type. We permit for daily, weekly or immediate notification of knol activity. If there isn't any activity for a knol, we won't send email notifications until another knol user makes a change that you want to know about. The notification emails provide a short description of events or actions that were performed by other Knol users upon your knols or in response to your comments.
New revisions of my knols
We notify you every time someone else edits a knol you own or authored. Other owners or authors can edit when the knol is in Closed or Moderated Collaboration mode; any Knol user can edit when in Open Collaboration mode. The email contains a link to the revision created and a link to the difference between it and the revision before it.Suggestions submitted to my knols
We notify you every time someone submits a new suggestion to a knol you own or authored in Moderated Collaboration mode. From links provided in the email, you can review the suggestion and integrate any useful parts of the suggestion into your knol.Reviews published about my knols
We notify you when someone first publishes a review they have written about one of your knols.Comments made on my knols
We notify you each time a top-level comment is created on one of your knols. Top-level comments differ from replies; they are given titles and may include a profile photo of the comment author.
Replies made to my comments
We notify you when someone else posts a reply to your top-level comment (whether it be on your or other's knols).
The replies are always found in the "View Replies" link at the bottom of your original comment.
Difficulties receiving notifications?
If you are having difficulties receiving email messages related to Knol, make sure that they are not getting routed to your email client's Spam folder. Add "noreply@google.com" to your whitelist.
Individual email clients may differ in how this is done, but for Gmail you would:

We also support Author Activity Feeds as an alternative mechanism to learn about the revisions, comments and replies created by any one author. This allows you to be notified about the activity of a authors or collaborators who your are interested in.Difficulties receiving notifications?

So there is no way currently to get email notification when an a knol changes?
Related, what does "top-level comment" mean ? If I reply to an existing comment and then someone replies to mine, do I get a notification or not ?
(in case comment replies are not notified by default, please somehow ping me if you reply to this comment ;-) )
PS: Ah, I see the "Replies to comments I replied to" option in preferences. So ignore that part...

When Knol Help makes changes in a help-knol, I am not aware of that, so they are not reflected in my translations.
