What is an Owner?
An “owner” is a person associated with the document who has control over administrative settings, like copyright licensing options, collaboration models, AdSense options, and more. In the case of moderated collections, an owner is basically the "editor-in-chief" of the collection.
The basics of ownership
One thing to remember is that a knol, review or collection always needs an owner.Caution: Remember that by extending ownership to another person, you are giving them responsibility for administering the knol, review or collection and the ability to control those settings. A co-owner can do absolutely anything with a knol, review or collection, including removing you as an owner, deleting it, changing its license or collaboration model, or changing who receives AdSense revenue from ads appearing on the knol. So be careful, only give ownership to persons you know and trust.
If you just want a person to be able to freely write text within your know, without having administrative rights to in, invite that person as an author or a collection moderator instead of an owner.
Adding co-owners
Alice wants to invite Bob as a co-owner on her knol: "Alice's incredible knol"- Step 1: Alice invites Bob as an owner (Settings > Owners > Invite more owners). This sends an invitation email to Bob.

Location of the Settings link - Step 2: Bob chooses to accept his invitation to become a co-owner of "Alice's incredible knol". Alice and Bob now both are owners of this knol.

Buttons that the invited co-owner will see when
following the link in their email
The original owner has no special privileges and is co-equal with anyone else added as owner.
Removing co-owners
You can remove a co-owner using Settings > Owners and clicking the "remove" link next to the name of the co-owner you would like to remove.Transfering knol ownership
If you would like to transfer ownership from yourself to another author, you will have to first add the author as an owner, then remove yourself from the owner list. Let's go through an example:Alice is the owner of a knol, review or collection entitled "Alice's incredible knol" and she wants to transfer ownership to Bob.
- Step 1: Alice invites Bob as an owner (Settings > Owners > Invite more owners). This sends an invitation email to Bob
- Step 2: Bob chooses to accept his invitation to become an owner of "Alice's incredible knol". Alice and Bob now both are owners of this knol.
- Step 3: Alice removes herself from the owner list (Settings > Owners > remove)
I can't find the Settings menu
Make sure you are logged in, and look on the right hand side, below the authorship information - as highlighted in the image to the right.
There should be a message "You have permission to manage this knol" or "You have permission to manage this collection". Click on Settings, just to the right.
I invited someone, but they did not receive the email invitation.
If someone is having difficulty receiving email messages related to Knol, make sure that the invitation messages are not getting routed to the email client's Spam folder.Add "noreply@google.com" to your whitelist. Individual email clients may differ in how this is done, but for Gmail you would:
