Updating the "Did you know?" links
To update the list of Did You Know links, simply edit the "References" section of the page.To add "Did you know?" pages for other languages, simply create and populate the References section for localized versions of this knol, for example "http://knol.google.com/k/knol/knol/DidYouKnow_ar" for the Arabic equivalent of "Did you know?"
"Did you know?" links are shown a random every time the home page renders. The text content of the reference will appear as a hyperlink on the knol.google.com home page prefixed by "Did you know? ", so keep it brief and and clean.
Procedure to create a localized version of Did You Know
We can create a language specific instance of the Did You Know page, by having a Knol Administrator issue the following request.http://knol.google.com/k/knol/system/services/createKnol?webspace=knol&path=knol.DidYouKnow_<lang>
In place of of <lang> use the language ID, for example "es" for Spanish, "ar" for Arabic.
Then, we can populate the DidYouKnow page as follows:
- Translate the title, summary, and content text into the target language. A quick-and-dirty translation is possible using http:://translate.google.com, but a native speaker will need to clean up the resulting page.
- Invite any translators working on the new Help page as co-authors.
- For each reference link in the English DidYouKnow page:
- Cut the URL it points to, and page it into your browser. For example, the Reference link for the question "You can ask other authors to review your knols" points here: http://knol.google.com/k/knol-help/reviews/si57lahl1w25/9
- Look to see whether the corresponding target language help page exists by adding _<lang> to the URL. For example, to access the Spanish version of the above page, use: http://knol.google.com/k/knol-help/reviews/si57lahl1w25/9_es, In many cases we do not have localized versions of help documents available yet.
- If the localized help page does not exist, ask a Knol administrator (knolhelp@gmail.com) to create a placeholder for the help page. It is important that you do not just make up a new URL at random for help pages -- Knol Help pages need specific URLs. Then translate the help page, pasting the results into the required URL
- Once the localized help page does exist, add a reference in the DidYouKnow_<lang> page. Have the reference's URL point to the localized document, and translate the text of the link into the target language. I

Visitors page, authors page
Now that knol is being displayed on google main search inviting authors, sending them to knoller.google.com a page meant for landing of interested authors would be appropriate.
The visitors page "do you know" will contain knol help pages that help visitors views the knols and interact with the authors and platform.
I feel the blog search of google can be extended to search knols also. Both are searching user generated content.

Hi Knol Help!
Anyway I think some of these "did you know" would be very interesting to place them in the main page or in the lateral as a box, to encourage people to learn more about Knol. Recently I translated "embedding objects into a knol" and I think these features are very bad known among authors, at least in Spanish.
Any further idea for me to help?
Regards
Also, I updated the above page to describe in general how to create DidYouKnow pages for any language.
