Like the older iPod versions, it enables the user to classify the media library according to artist names, song titles, albums, play lists, videos, composers, genres and compilations. Similar to the Fifth Generation iPods, the iPhone can also play videos.
Users also have the option of buying and downloading music through the iTunes Store. Downloading can be done over Wi-Fi, not through cellular data network.

For Internet connectivity, the iPhone has integrated Wi-Fi. This enables the user to access the Internet using a wireless network and a customized Safari Internet browser. However, it does not have 3G capabilities, which may be an update in future versions.
Is Iphone a Success?
In its first weekend of sales, Apple's 3G iPhone connected with consumers, pushing sales to one million units after just three days on store shelves. Despite software glitches and collapsed servers, analysts declared the launch a success and expect Apple to surpass its goal for ten million sold iPhones by the end of the year.
The company sold 270,000 units of its sleek smartphone/iPod crossbreed when it launched its first version of the device in June 2007 in the United States. The third-generation wireless, or 3G version, premiered in 21 countries and overloaded the company's servers as thousands of new iPhone users rushed to rig their new gadgets with software. The bogged servers also affected owners of the original iPhone who tried to equip their phones with software updates, which left the phones untouchable.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based company said downloads at its online App Store exceeded 10.0 million since its launch last week as iPhone and iPod touch users nabbed new software, including the more than 800 third-party games, tools and other applications now available for Apple handhelds.
Part of the phone's appeal is its price. At $199, the new version is 60.0% cheaper than the original's starting price of $499. It also boasts a faster Internet connection and a global navigation system hookup in addition to the easily organizable touchscreen and sleek design that made the original a must-have for gadget geeks and connectivity cravers. Apple expects to sell 10.0 million iPhones this year. The phone is currently available across Europe, Australia, Mexico, Japan and in North America & Honk Kong. The phone goes on sale in France on July 17.
