Cat and Dog Life-Saver

A high calorie & liquid nourishment for rescued or weak, very ill pets.

This is Tinkie, the wonder cat. A few days after we adopted her from the Seminole County Animal Shelter, she nearly died. The procedure at this particular shelter goes as follows. First, you complete an adoption form and you are approved. You then have to agree to spay or neuter the pet you are adopting. The shelter makes the appointment with a local vet to have the procedure done. After the surgery is completed and your pet is cleared to go home, you pick your pet up at the vet. You are free to take your new pet home with you. The first night, our kitty seemed fine. However, each day she seemed to get more lethargic, and began to not be able to hold down any food or water. I took her to the vet and they ran tests. They told me she was severely dehydrated, so they administered an entire bag of i.v. fluids. They wanted to keep her over night, run more tests. Since I had been through this situation before with a rescued puppy, who unfortunately still passed away while in their care, and I felt confidant they had done everything in their power to help him, but he still passed. (And it cost $700. for a poor pup we had for less than 2 weeks.Parvo killed him. There had been an outbreak at the shelter.) I decided to take matters into my own hands. I asked the vet if I could continue to bring Tinkie in once a day or as needed for more i.v. fluids, they said of course. This cost about $12. a visit. But, on top of that I googled for ever looking for some wonderful, high calorie supplements for kittens. I decided this had to help her gain some strength since she was terribly week. Plus, the diarrhea had stopped. The supplement I found is called Nutri-Cal for cats. It comes in a tube and is thick and pasty like the substance of really thick molasses or tree sap. You squirt a small amount on your finger and stick it to the inside top of you cats mouth, that way they have to lick it off! I did this through out the day and within several days Tinkie was on the road to recovery! They have a formula for dogs, too! From now on, I never go without a tube of it in the house. I am convinced it helped save Tinkie's life! Hope this knol can help many more beloved pets!
