I've lived in Barcelona since 1988. I had a career as a minor rock star, met my wife, had kids and decided that I ought to take life a little more seriously. I now teach English at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and have recently had my first book, Going Native in Catalonia, published by NativeSpain. I am currently in the research stage for my forthcoming book on Spanish Football.
My original interest in Knols was basically as a way of killing two birds with one stone; I could upload material that I had already published and thereby promote the book and also use the site to publish short articles on Spanish football as my ideas developed.
However, the more I use GoogleKnols, the more potential I can see in them and to a certain extent they have become an end in themselves, which I hope Google will be pleased about. The possibilty of hyperlinks and the fact that they are articles written by an identifiable author means, in my opinion, that Knols have an advantage over Wikipedia. I am already sharing ideas with other Knol authors but, at the end of the day, the responsibility for any errors is mine. So although my research is as meticulous as possible, the serios researcher should obviously check other sources.
My two main topics remain Catalonia and Spanish Football, and I have created two index pages called 'CataloniaKnols' and 'SpanishFootballKnols'. .
The project is in its early stages and probably will always be 'Work in Progress'. However, once on the Contents pages the Knols should be at a publishable level and I hope you enjoy them. I would also appreciate any comments, so that I can continue improving the quality of my work.
All the best

Update 20/11/08 - The Spanish Football Project has developed into a website at http://www.spain-football.org where a lot of the football material is being rewritten. I intend to update the current SpanishFootballKnols and add some more if I have some time before Christmas.
