Be Prepared
You never know when the opportunity to take a great baby picture will present itself, so always be ready. Keep your digital camera close at hand. Be sure that you have plenty of space on your camera to take as many pictures as you'd like. Download pictures onto your comp uter often to have lots of camera memory. Always carry an extra camera battery, just in case and be sure all camera accessories are always in the case and ready for use.

Shoot First…Think Second
The wonderful thing about digital cameras is that the shots you don't like can be deleted…no harm no foul. So take a lot of pictures. Even if you think that a picture won't be the best, you might capture something that can be edited later. There are a number of wonderful, free editing tools available to make a great baby picture out of one that started out so, so.

Compose the Shot
1.Think about the background: Put a SOLID blanket on the floor and position your baby in the center. Remove anything from the background that will interfere with a gr eat shot.
2.Turn the date stamp off: Why ruin a great baby photo with a bunch of red numbers on it. To keep track of when a picture was taken, either keep a running photography diary or put the date in the folder name when downloading your pictures onto your computer.
3.Change the angle: Get above your baby and aim down or go to "baby level," on the floor and take the shot from there. Take the same shot from a number of different angles and see what turns out best.
4.Focus on one element: If you want to forever have a picture of your baby's pudgy hands then by all means frame a shot around the hand and just a part of the baby's face. Think about what you really want and aim for it specifically. Don't let the background overtake what you want to portray.
5.Capture Emotion: Take shots of your baby crying as well as happy…clean and dirty…in the bath or on the swing. Regardless of when or where you choose to get the perfect baby picture, think safety first!
