Tim Jurgensen is a Project Editor working with the International Standards Organization in the development of an international standard for interoperability of smart card based identity systems, ISO/IEC 24727. After completing a Ph.D. at Rice University in low energy nuclear structure, Tim developed at Schlumberger, in conjunction with M/A-COM Linkabit, the first private satellite communication system in the United States. He then worked on the expansion of the Internet to utilize international satellite networks, before specializing in high security network protocols. After developing with Microsoft the initial PC/SC standard for integration of computer tokens for access to the World Wide Web, Tim retired from Schlumberger in 1999.
