Mahatma Gandhi University, which is popularly known as MG University, is located in Kottayam, Kerala (India). The former name of the university is Gandhiji University.
 
Mahatma Gandhi university was established on 2nd October 1983 as per the Mahatma Gandhi University Act, 12 of 1985,enacted by the Kerala state Legislature. The main campus of this university is spread across over 100 acres near Kottayam town.
