AMET UNIVERSITY

This honour is not surprising, adding to its past list of awards, including the Outstanding Achievements in Regional Maritime Service Award from Sea Trade (2007 ) and the Sailor Today Award (2008 ). It is also ISO Certified, having earned the Certification to ISO 9001: 2000 Standards from Det Norske Veritas, Norway.

Accommodation Facilities: The more than thousand cadets comfortably reside in the well-furnished hostel with its own canteen / dining hall and have access to an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Academic Facilities: The class rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching equipment, such as a variety of projectors as well as a public address system. There is an actual fully operational Ship on campus for hands-on training on lathes, turbines, engines, welding sets, and all kinds of machines. In addition, there are separate computer training programs to impart knowledge and hands-on training of navigational systems, such as simulators and radars.

 Ø           Distance Education Course (Post Graduate Course) in M.B.A. Shipping and Logistics Management with Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU):  This is a newly introduced e-learning course conducted in English by AMET. You don’t need to attend classes, but must visit the website related to the course on a weekly basis.

Duration: minimum 2 years / maximum 8 years.

 Ø           Diploma Courses:

(1)Graduate in Mechanical Engineering (1 year)

(2)   Advanced Diploma for Gas Engineers for LPG/LNG ships (6 months)

(3)   Diploma Courses with International Collaboration – these incorporate the first year of study in India and the second year at the international campus (UK) named.

Important Note: for diploma courses mentioned in (3), there are separate fees for the AMET section and for the International campus section.

 Ø           Short Term Courses include courses in tanker safety and familiarization, rescue boats, fire prevention and fire fighting, Medicare, first aid, personal safety, and survival techniques.
